Our Staff

Dalane Drexler - EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Dalane (Deigh) originally joined the Network as Policy and Participation Development Worker in March 2009, before transitioning into the Executive Officer role in October 2009.  Prior to joining the Network, she was an advocate for people with disability and/or mental illness for several years, which followed extensive experience in the mental health and disability sectors both professionally, and personally as a consumer.  Deigh graduated from the Bachelor of Community Education in 2008, majoring in Community Development and has a wide assortment of community-based training and education attained prior to and since that time.  When she's not at work, Deigh spends her time with her daughters and learning all they have to offer.

Amanda Davies - PROGRAM MANAGER

Amanda joined the Network at the end of May 2011.  Amanda started her working life in community theatre, training at the Victorian College of the Arts and travelling around Australia performing street theatre and running workshops.  After graduating from UTS with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons, First Class), she moved to Canberra to join the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department.  There she worked on law reform in areas including privacy, family law, administrative law and film and classification; and spent several years heading up the Human Rights Branch.  She led Australia’s delegation to several United Nations sessions developing the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and led the development of reforms such as Disability Standards under the Disability Discrimination Act and Australia’s Human Rights Framework.  Having been a passionate advocate of consultative and collaborative processes as a public servant, and a believer in the strength of the slogan ‘Nothing about us without us’,  Amanda is very pleased to be working with the Network to ensure that the consumer voice is loud and strong.

Stephanie Shu-Jen - COMMUNITY EDUCATION COORDINATOR

Stephanie has been with the organisation since February 2010 after being offered a contract to develop a course with mental health consumers that would enhance self-advocacy and consumer advocacy skills with the aim of further developing the Network's Consumer Representative Program.   She became a permanent member of staff at the end of 2010 in the role of Community Education Coodinator and facilitates the Advocacy and Representation Training (ART) course.  Prior to joining the Network she was a Learning Support Teacher in ACT primary and secondary schools for several years, which was then followed by two years working with people with intellectual disability in the role of Project Officer. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) via correspondence while also working part-time as the specialised visual arts teacher at an early childhood centre and primary school. Stephanie has thoroughly enjoyed my work with the ACTMHCN in this time, looking forward developing the ART course further, and meeting and working with more of its members and friends.

Keah Woodgate - ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

I have arrived here at ACTMHCN after an 18mth or so position at Legal Aid ACT working as a paralegal in the Family Law Section. It was an amazing job, and really taught me the value of fighting for the little guy. I got to work with some really inspiring people. I’m currently in my second year of a Bachelor in Psychology at ANU, and so working part time here at ACTMHCN is complementing my studies as well. I’m Brisbane born and raised, and I am not looking forward to my third Canberra winter. As admin officer I’m looking forward to expanding on and improving some of the internal systems at the office, like continuing the cataloguing of the library and helping everyone get things in order. In my spare time, I love to play any kind of musical instrument I can get my hands on. I’m traditionally a classically trained violinist, but I love to explore any genre I can. I also play in about three different soccer teams at the moment, as I enjoy staying active and love the team sports environment. Please drop in and say hi, I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and learning all you have to teach me.

Sophie Maria - ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT

Sophie joined the Network in July 2011 as an Administrative Assistant. She moved to the ACT at the start of 2010 to further her studies and currently holds degrees in Applied Science (Animal Behaviour and Welfare/Wildlife Biology) and Arts (Archaeology and Paleoanthropology).  Sophie enjoys reading, playing the violin and spending as much time outside as the Canberra climate will permit!

Leliana Setiono - VOLUNTEER WEBSITE ADMINISTRATOR

Leliana first joined the Network in January 2010 as Policy and Participation Coordinator. Following her move to Canberra in 2009, she wanted to get more involved in an ACT community organisation that fits her passion for social justice issues. She completed her Bachelor degree in Psychology in Indonesia, where she comes from, before she obtained her Postgraduate degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Melbourne.  Afterwards she spent two years working in the education sector with the British Council Indonesia in Jakarta.  She is particularly interested in education, mental health, and human resources management.  Leliana enjoys travelling, diving, playing cards, and watching lots of movies whenever she can. After her resignation in May 2011, she keep her involvement with the Network as website administrator.
